Wrinkle Fillers

As we age, collagen production in our skin slows and existing collagen begins to break down, causing the skin to show facial lines and wrinkles. Injectable wrinkle fillers can give facial skin a plumper, smoother appearance and can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of the cost of a traditional facelift. Most will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from a few months to more than a year.

Today we have a wide range of safe, effective wrinkle fillers to choose from:

  • Collagen injections replenish the skin’s natural collagen. By supplementing your skin’s own collagen, these wrinkle injections help smooth facial lines and some types of scars.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite is a semi-permanent wrinkle filler that’s suspended in a watery gel and used to increase soft tissue. This is a collagen stimulator to improve the surface texture of your skin as well as stimulate your own collagen to enable the product to last longer.
  • Hyaluronic acidis a substance normally made by the body that gives your skin its volume and fullness. Hyaluronic acid injections fill the space between collagen and elastin fibers within the skin which replenishes the natural volume lost with aging.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid is an injectable filler used to replace lost facial fat. This synthetic polymer has been used for many years in dissolvable stitches. This product stimulates the body’s own collagen for better skin texture and a longer lasting result.
  • Natural body fat from your own thighs or abdomen can be also be used as a wrinkle filler. There’s no risk of allergic reaction, and most people achieve semi-permanent results. Several injections may […]

Lip Fillers

Lips are an important part of facial beauty. Like our eyes and nose, they are a defining and prominent feature of the face. Lip augmentation using cosmetic lip fillers is a procedure that can improve your smile and freshen your face with youthful looking, plumper, softer and smoother-looking lips. This aesthetic treatment is quick, safe and effective and requires no downtime.

Lip fillers are popular among individuals of all ages looking to rejuvenate their smile. A radiant smile can add youth and vibrancy to your appearance. A simple and safe injection treatment can add volume and definition, balance asymmetric lips or reduce the appearance of fine, vertical lines. It is especially effective for those with naturally thin or thinning lips.

During a thorough consultation with Abby Coats in Medford, he will carefully examine you, discuss your goals and realistic expectations and recommend the appropriate method of treatment for your lip augmentation. If you decide to receive lip fillers, you may be treated the same day as your consultation.

The lip filler procedure begins with a topical anesthetic cream applied to the lips. This ensures that the injections administered by Abby Coats will only cause minor discomfort. Abby Coats will then administer the lip filler treatment via tiny injections that are virtually pain free. At the end of the procedure, the areas will be massaged to create a smooth, soft and natural result.

There is no downtime after the procedure. Patients can return to their everyday activities immediately following the treatment. You may experience some bruising, swelling and tenderness which can last between 24 to 48 hours after the injections. You will then be left with plump, voluminous lips.

How to Get Rid of a Double Chin?

A double chin is defined as a roll of fatty skin that is situated beneath your chin that makes it appear as if you have two chins, hence the name: double chin. This can be caused as a part of the natural aging process, genetics or a response to weight fluctuation.

The dreaded double chin can affect people of all sizes and ages – it doesn’t discriminate. Home remedies and exercises may help you feel like you’re making a difference, but the reality is that they’re never really going to produce dramatic results. There are quite a few treatments to remove the fat and restore your neck to its normal appearance. Ways to get rid of a double chin include:

CoolSculpting – Cryolypolysis, also called CoolSculpting, is a procedure that cools the skin and the tissues beneath it. This method is effective because fat cells are particularly sensitive to the cool temperatures. The fat cells die over the next few days after treatment, and the body gets rid of them.

Liposuction – Liposuction can be a great option for people desiring a more refined neck and jaw line. Small incisions are made under the chin (one on each side) for access for a tiny laser fiber which is used to melt fat and tighten skin simultaneously. A very thin cannula is then placed through those same tiny incisions to vacuum away the melted fat.

Neck Lift – Older patients who have a double chin and significant loose or sagging neck skin with visible bands may require a neck lift. The fat causing the double chin is removed and sagging neck muscles are tightened. Loose skin is removed from behind the […]

Facial Rejuvenation

Our face is one of the most distinguishing features on our entire body. However, as we grow older, fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and other signs of aging appear. Age, sun exposure, smoking and other factors can all contribute to this appearance. While there are those who choose to accept aging as a way of life, many people seek rejuvenating procedures to find a way to recapture their youthful appearance. There are several procedures that can help restore a youthful appearance to faces called facial rejuvenation treatments. Improving your facial skin tone and repairing skin damaged by aging, sun damage or injury often involves skin rejuvenation. There’s a huge variety of cosmetic therapies available to restore and renew skin.

While some of these facial rejuvenation procedures involve surgery, like facelifts and dermabrasion, more and more minimally invasive procedures have emerged. These treatments cannot stop your face from aging, but it can take years off your appearance by reducing the number of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Benefits can vary depending on the type of treatment used.

Any person looking to enhance the appearance of their face would represent an ideal candidate for facial rejuvenation treatments. Although reasons vary from person to person, the more common include:

Lower Blepharoplasty

When your eyelids begin to droop and show fine lines—as often happens with age because of your genes, or after years of sun exposure and habits such as smoking—you can look older, tired, even sad. Many people have baggy and puffy lower eyelids. Lower eyelid surgery, also known as lower blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove excess fat and tighten the skin. This procedure can drastically minimize the appearance of baggy and puffy lower eyelids, restoring a refreshed, rested and youthful look.

You may be a candidate for lower eyelid blepharoplasty if:

  • You always look tired, even with plenty of sleep
  • Your under-eye bags are present throughout the day
  • You have excess skin around the eyes
  • You notice that applying makeup is becoming more difficult
  • Your friends or family keep asking you if you’re tired or if you’re getting enough sleep

There are different surgical techniques a surgeon can use to rejuvenate the lower eyelids, but the overall approach usually involves removing fat (or sculpting and redistributing the fat or septum) as well as removing excess skin and sagging muscle.

The two most common lower blepharoplasty approaches are:

Transcutaneous Approach – This surgical technique involves making an external incision in the lower eyelid, just below the eyelashes. This approach can be advantageous if there is sagging of the skin and the orbicularis oculi muscle (the muscle which supports the eyelid). A well-placed incision can be virtually invisible when fully healed. Patients with darker skin may experience darker pigmentation (hyperpigmentation) along the incision line.

Transconjunctival Approach – This approach requires an incision in the inside of the eyelid and has several benefits:

  • No external incision so signs of surgery are […]

Cosmetic Botox Injection Sites

Cosmetic Botox is a nonsurgical treatment designed to reduce the fine lines and wrinkles that appear on the face over time. Also known as Botulinum Toxin Type A, Botox is a muscle paralyzing neurotoxin. When injected into a predetermined area, the product will temporarily relax the muscle and smooth facial creases.

The most common cosmetic Botox injection sites are between the eyebrows (to treat frown lines), at the corner of the eyes (to correct crow’s feet), forehead creases and wrinkles around the lips.

Administered through tiny injections directly into the targeted muscle area, Botox injections take less than 30 minutes in the office. Prior to a treatment in Medford, Dr. Hauck will determine if you are a suitable candidate for Botox, which areas of the face will be targeted and how much will be needed. Virtually painless, cosmetic Botox injections do not require an anesthetic. Patients normally report a slight pinch during each injection.

No downtime is required after a cosmetic Botox treatment; patients can return to their usual activities immediately after a treatment. Minor bruising may occur at the injection site, although this will quickly resolve. The results from a Botox treatment can first be noticed in five to seven days. The full benefits from a treatment will appear in approximately two weeks. Results last between three to four months; after which time, patients will need a repeat treatment to maintain results.

Cosmetic Botox injection treatments are beneficial for men and women of any age and safe for all ethnicities and skin types. People frustrated by the early signs of aging due to facial lines and wrinkles often find that cosmetic Botox injections provide excellent results.

Cosmetic Botox injections can be performed alone or […]

Ptosis

Ptosis is the medical term for drooping of the upper eyelid. This can be as a result of aging, a congenital defect, muscle deformity or neurological disorder.

This condition can be inherited, present at birth or occur later in life. Ptosis can affect one or both eyelids. The eyelid may droop slightly, or it may cover the entire pupil. If not addressed, severe ptosis can restrict or even block your vision as the eyelid gradually droops lower and lower, eventually covering the eye.

Ptosis can occur in patients of all ages, but is most common in older patients, continuing to worsen with age. In addition to drooping of the eyelids, patients may also experience difficulty closing the eye or blinking, tearing, eye fatigue or double vision. When a child is born with Ptosis, it is called Congenital Ptosis.

What Causes Ptosis?

A number of factors that affect the muscles, nerves or skin of the eyelids can cause ptosis. The muscles that allow your eyelids to move up and down are called the levator muscles. As we age, this tendon can stretch and cause the eyelid to fall.

Some people may be born with eye muscles that are weaker than normal, causing them to develop ptosis at a young age.

Nerve damage can contribute to ptosis as well. A common cause of ptosis is Horner’s syndrome. Horner’s syndrome is a form of nerve damage that occurs in the face and eyes. It’s usually the result of an underlying condition. Stroke and other brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and some forms of lung cancer can cause Horner’s syndrome and ptosis.

Some chronic conditions, including diabetes, may also increase your risk of ptosis.

Cluster headaches can […]

Microneedling Benefits

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, aesthetic, anti-aging skin treatment technique that stimulates your skin, helping it to heal and reverse the signs of aging. Microneedling is not an injection and although it uses needles, it does not pierce or puncture the skin.

Microneedling benefits your skin in many ways, causing it to appear more vibrant, brighter, younger … and you will start to see wrinkles disappear and your appearance improve. In addition to stimulating the skin, microneedling can also be used to reduce the appearance of scars. It can help heal sunspots and sun-damaged skin. The following issues can all be improved by the micro needling procedure:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Premature Skin Aging
  • Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Age Spots
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Large Pores
  • Hair Loss

The process of microneedling stimulates anti-aging elements by speeding up and increasing collagen production. The number of treatments and the medicines used vary from patient to patient and condition to condition. Results are generally noticed within a month of beginning the procedure. Micro needling patients will benefit with firmer skin, fewer wrinkles, fewer folds, better texture of skin, smaller pores and improved appearance of stretch marks and scars. Additional benefits of skin needling are that there are no recovery times, no damage to your skin and it is a painless procedure.

It is important that microneedling only be administered by a dermatologist, nurse or licensed aesthetician or a skilled professional trained in the technique. If you have been looking for an easy, painless anti-aging solution, then consider microneedling in Medford. Brow Lift Recovery

Your brow lift recovery begins as soon as your procedure is complete. Immediately following surgery, your forehead may be taped and your head may be wrapped to minimize swelling and bruising. In addition, tiny drains may be in place to remove any excess blood or fluid. Before you are released, you will be instructed on how to care for the surgical site.

If your brow lift was done on an outpatient basis, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home. During the first 24 hours, you may feel groggy from the anesthesia and/or other medications. You may notice tightness, tingling, a sporadic sharp pain, pulling, burning and/or cold sensations in your forehead area. Your scalp will be numb because your nerves have been partially separated during your surgery. This is all normal and to be expected.

Bruising and swelling are normal parts of brow lift recovery and tend to last about 10 days. Some people may develop black eyes after a brow lift. Applying cold compresses on your head and face can help keep swelling and bruising to a minimum.

There may be some mild to moderate discomfort after your brow lift, but you should be up and about within two days. Any pain should be alleviated with your prescribed pain medication. Dr. Hauck will tell you when you can wash your hair and perform certain tasks. Most patients can return to work with makeup in about two weeks, and the full effects of your brow lift should be visible in approximately 1 month’s time.

During your recovery, it’s important to follow Dr. Hauck’s instructions regarding alcohol use and the use of certain medications […]
